Find your Windows save folder, protect a copy, and check what is confirmed about carrying Demo progress into the full game.

Short answer

Yes. Eastshade Studios says your Demo save can continue in the full game. Its 15 June 2026 announcement confirms progress carries over. Keep your existing save files.

This confirms the developer’s announced support. We have not tested full-game loading, an import screen or Steam Cloud conflicts. The announcement does not give a manual transfer procedure.

Find the Windows save folder

The developer identifies the following folder in a reply to a Demo player whose autosave disappeared. Open File Explorer, paste this into its address bar and press Enter:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Eastshade Studios\Songs of Glimmerwick

%USERPROFILE% selects your current Windows user folder. The developer writes the full path as C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Eastshade Studios\Songs of Glimmerwick.

Expected result: Explorer opens the game’s save folder. In the reported case, the player found Player, Player-prev and steam_autocloud.vdf; the developer then requested the first two files. This is one reported file set, not a promise that every build uses exactly the same names.

If Windows cannot find the folder, check the path and whether you are signed into the Windows account used to play. The developer asked about a changed Windows user in this case. Do not create an empty folder as a supposed repair; it will not restore progress.

Make a backup before troubleshooting

  1. Close the game before copying files, so it is not actively writing a save.
  2. Copy the entire Songs of Glimmerwick folder to a separate location, such as a dated folder named Glimmerwick-backup-2026-09-30 in Documents. Use Copy, not Cut.
  3. Open the copied folder and check that its files are present. Keep the original folder and filenames intact.

These are precautionary Windows file-copy steps, not a developer-provided restoration method. A backup preserves the files you have; it does not establish that a missing or damaged save can be recovered.

Your save is missing from the Load menu

There is no confirmed recovery fix in the source thread. The player found files in the expected folder, but the game still did not list the save. Moving them into the Demo’s Steam installation folders did not work for that player.

  1. Check the Windows account and save folder above. Record whether the folder exists and which files it contains.
  2. Preserve a backup before trying further changes. Do not rename Player-prev over Player or overwrite an existing save based on this guide; that procedure has not been verified.
  3. Contact glimmerwickbugs@gmail.com, the address given by the developers in the thread. They requested Player and Player-prev from the affected player.

To help explain your case, include whether you played the Demo or full game, your version if shown, when the save last loaded and what changed. A screenshot of the Load screen can show the symptom. Send files directly to the developer rather than posting them publicly.

If the game shows a Steam Cloud conflict: this guide does not establish which copy is newer or safe to keep. Preserve any local files first and get case-specific support before overwriting a copy.

The save loads, but your character is invisible

This is a different symptom. In a September Demo report, only the character’s shadow remained after loading. Restarting and changing saves did not solve it for that player. The developer requested the save file from the same Windows directory; the visible reply does not provide a fix.

Keep a copy and describe that the save loads but the character is missing when contacting the developer. Do not treat it as proof that the save has been deleted.
